Are you posting every 72 hours? — Social Media for Organizations

We know we should be doing social media, but who has the time? “ said with a grin and shrug. I’ve heard that phrase more than thrice from membership organizations and association leaders. It seems that Social Media Management is not everyone’s idea of a fun time. Fair enough.

Even if it does seem fun, there are ever-changing rules to use in swaying the algorithms to grace a business page with traffic, impressions, and the best reach.

And, what is an ‘impression’ versus‘ reach’ anyway? There is a whole language to navigate as part of implementing effective social media management.

Let alone strategic social media management for specific growth objectives. When specific objectives are set, for example, membership conversions, specific skill sets are needed.

Often a Social Media Manager is expected to foster community engagement, create content, develop the posting schedule across platforms, setup plus run paid ad campaigns, and develop the strategy to meet growth and engagement objectives. This brief list requires widely varied specialist skillsets.

Needless to say, it can be a bit of a pickle to implement all of this effectively. And it seems 100% reasonable to me that I hear that above comment on repeat. Because organizations should be doing social media.

I do not use that ‘should’ lightly. The platforms present a massive opportunity to connect with your current membership and attract new prospective members who can benefit from your tireless work on their behalf.

But enough soapbox. Here is one tactic you can use starting today that will improve your organization’s page visibility.

Post every 72 business hours. Consistently.

This one action makes your Business Page be seen more favorable by the algorithms.

Oh, and according to Facebook:

‘Impressions’ => Impressions are the number of times any content from your Page or about your Page entered a person’s screen.

‘Reach’ => Reach is the number of people who saw any content from your Page or about your Page. This metric is estimated.

If your organization would like to leverage social media marketing to meet growth objectives, reach out to me here for a discussion on how we can collaborate to plug in the needed skillsets in collaboration with your in-house staff.
